Can Sea Salt Spray Replace Oils and Curl Creams?

Odele's Sea-cret

Formula Says

YES.

There is something so chic about hair that looks undone (in the best possible way). Natural, slightly messy, and full of movement. Sea salt spray has become the go-to product for achieving exactly this texture, and its popularity continues to rise. Some people are even replacing their oils and curl creams. In search of the perfect beachy look for my thick and curly hair, I tested Odele's Texturizing Sea Salt Spray for three months to see if it lived up to the buzz.

It has a lightweight formula and a wide nozzle, which dispersed the mist evenly throughout my hair. The scent is fresh and delicate, with notes of cucumber, oak moss, and ylang-ylang, reminiscent of a luxury spa tucked away on a tropical island. It felt cleaner than the typical, overly sweet hair products found on most bathroom shelves.

The spray worked best when applied to soaking wet hair before air-drying. Once dry, my curls had noticeably more texture and movement without ever feeling crunchy or sticky. Unlike many sea salt sprays, it also washed out easily.

While the spray delivered volume, it lacked the stronger hold needed to properly maintain thicker curls throughout the day. The initial grit softened after an hour. For thin, straight, or wavy hair, this could easily become an everyday product. But for heavier textures, don't retire the oils and curl creams just yet.
